Payback

Sometimes good things happen to good people. They also happen to bad people. Take this for instance. I took delivery of my new M3 today and set up the cradle, plugged it all in and started charging it. When I was going over the box I noticed there was a grey sticker (with silver text) on the silver box which read “M3L 20gig”. The M3L is a different model to the M3. Everything is exactly the same except it is slightly bigger (thicker by about 4mm), yet the battery life is actually 35 hours rather than 14 (iPods can piss off with their 7 hours or whatever). I compared the measurements of my unit with the measurements of the M3L and it matches up – so I got an extra $100 worth of MP3 player for free! Fantastic! I guess it makes up for the broken record player, the DVD without the actual disc and the box of cd covers that never turned up.

Meanwhile, loading my files onto the player has become a hellish process because a) I only have USB1 which feels like I’m using a zip drive and b) random files decide they will cause an I/O error and stop the process. Any ideas anyone?
