That nasty impedance on my life called a research essay is finall over, printed and ready to be handed in. All before midnight! What kind of a student am I? It didn’t go down without a struggle though…
Firstly I printed off a draft copy with no special formatting, and it was 9 pages. Knowing I was low on paper, I picked up all the scraps I could rummage from the floor that were only used on one side, and fed it into the printer. At first I had put in the paper up the wrong way, reprinting on the used side. Once that was sorted out, the printer ran out of black ink, or at least needed a good cleaning. Not wanting to fuss about, I just ripped the little bugger out and replaced her (see, it pays to have spares). Soon after two pages got jammed and all ripped up. Once I finally get all nine pages printed, I make the needed changes format wise, make my edits, and get ready to print the now 21 pages worth.
Firstly, however, I printed out another two page document to be attached to another assignment due tommorow. I hit print and walk away, only to return to discover I was ONE page short! I rummaged around the room but to no avail. There was not a single clean white sheet of A4 paper to be found anywhere. In dispair, I had to use the back of another used sheet and I’ll photocopy them tomorrow to get clean sheets.
With all the drama, I can barely believe that tomorrow will be my last class of my second last semester of music. In two months time I’ll be starting the last of my music studies in this course, and maybe then I’ll write about all the changes I’ve been through, not just musically, but intellectually in general. While at times the course has been a frustration (and not just because of the work itself), but overall the effect it has had on me as a thinker (big words), is undeniably important to the ‘artist’ I am. And if you ask nicely, I’ll post a rather postmodern electronic composition I just completed that is rather growing on me.
If there is one thing that has been keeping me on track the past few days it’s the fact that one of these is currently on its way to me:
With one early bid and quite a few more people watching the auction, I’m (almost) guaranteed a sale, so I went ahead and ordered my new computer. It’s a Mac, of course. What other computer would only depreciate by $150 (so far) over 18 months! I am truly a mac convert because not only are they beautiful looking machines, but they just make working so much easier. Now with the processor change I’ll be able to have a completely working Windows and OS X computer at my disposal, not that there is much reason for me to use Windows (except for maybe EAC). So that’s my indulgent purchase (although it’s working out to be not very expensive at all with the iBook sale and what not), and I must thank Kit for giving me the idea to sell and trade up when he pointed out the fact that not many people know about the Macbooks yet, so iBooks are still selling well on eBay. It will be sad to say goodbye to this machine though.
Oh, and I’m back on the radio for one show only Saturday week. Remember to tune in if you’re local!
hey Tyson, a little disturbed now there is another Zoe being talked about… and you are showing her your underwear!!! lets just get it clear that it was not ME being shown the underwear… thats just in case megan reads the site… she likes to get excited about these things.
isnt it a great feeling when you finish a boring as hell waste of time assignment? I love it. and I’m certainly not going to miss that feeling now that I’m finished. I may never have to write another essay in my life! very exciting. anyway thanks for the music… talk soon.
Hurrah! So jealous :) Looks fab!
P.S. To the other Zoe… it was ME who got shown Ty’s underwear! Oh what an experience.
Sorry, just going with the trend. Looks awesome! Damn you :P
Is this doing anyone else’s heads in?
Zoe 1 – How is Megan? I haven’t heard from her in a while. And yay about the essays! You’re free!
Zoe 2 – Thanks for your kind words.
Let’s cut to the chase, what is this new machine going to be able to do for me?
Impressive. *sig* I want one.
Francine [truncated] – Actually play DVDs, unlike your two-bit DVD player that licks the discs and decides they are no good and spits them out again.
Steph – Why just one?
hey, megs is going well. she’s moving into the city with a friend of hers as she has a teaching job there. she as another one in Minto, where she is now with her family, but shes trying to faze it out. ALSO she will be closer to her boyfriend in the city. they’ve been together for a couple of months now I think. they are pretty serious. he told her before they started dating that the next girl he dated he wanted to marry. so we talk about marriage a lot! already planning it… although he hasnt proposed yet. they may acutally have a long engagement. who knows? I have also now adjusted my name so it has the dots over the ‘e’. perhaps this will help with confusion!
